The User’s Guide to Sleight of Mouth: How to Unleash the Magic of Language to Persuade Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere

What is Sleight of Mouth? Sleight of Mouth is a persuasion skill for conversationally changing beliefs. It consists of 14 different patterns of response to a stated belief. Once mastered, this system can equip you with a response that effectively clarifies your position and helps you persuade rather than be persuaded. Simply put, it will enable you to win any argument and be both verbally powerful and powerfully verbal.Where Did Sleight of Mouth Come From? Sleight of Mouth results from the application of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) methodology to NLP itself or, more accurately, to Richard Bandler's debate skills. NLP emerged from Richard Bandler and John Grinder analyzing and codifying the methods of several prominent 20th-century therapists like Milton Erickson and Virginia Satir. Robert Dilts, one of Bandler and Grinder's early students, applied this same methodology to Bandler's unique approach with people. In his NLP Certification courses, Bandler would challenge participants to use their newly acquired skills to persuade him that a belief system adopted for the occasion (e.g., "I can't see the curve, therefore the world is flat.") was incorrect. Despite their best efforts, Bandler could always produce a multitude of responses to counter their "logical" arguments. Dilts was able to identify the patterns of persuasion that Bandler employed. He systemized these patterns into specific categories and developed a streamlined flowchart, making them easy and enjoyable to use."The User's Guide to Sleight of Mouth" by Doug O'Brien teaches you this system in a wonderfully succinct and user-friendly manner that will have you using it in no time.
